About

Welcome to my blog! I hope you like it here and stay a while.

My name is Nadya. I am a stay-at-home mom of two precious little ones. A wife to a wonderful man. My husband Kyle and I have been married for 7 years. In the summer of 2014 we welcomed our first baby – our son Brandon, and in the summer of 2016 baby Liya joined the family. Our family recently left a beautiful state of Alaska, and we are now residing in a warm and humid (and in its own way beautiful) South Carolina.

At this point in my life I have decided that I need an outlet of sorts, to share my thoughts, feelings, adventures, mess and joy of motherhood and marriage with other moms out there. That’s how Oatmeal & Grace was born. You might ask – What’s in the name? Here is a little back story for you…

…It is a typical morning in our house and I ask my 2-year-old the same question every day:

– Brandon, what do you want for breakfast?

And every day I get exactly the same response:

– Ummm… Oatmeal!

He says it with so much enthusiasm, as if there could never be anything better than oatmeal for breakfast (maybe I should take that as a compliment!) And so every morning I proceed to make oatmeal with raisins, maple syrup, and some butter. Then we all enjoy our breakfast together before moving on to face another day. I have come to like oatmeal and found just the right way to make it so it is not too mushy and not too sweet – just perfect!

I am a mom of two little ones who are two years apart. I get to stay home with them and enjoy all the hugs and kisses all day, every day. Some days are tougher than others and I find that on those days I have to extend grace to myself, my husband, and my precious children. God has covered us with grace and no matter what we do and how we feel, he still loves us. He loves us in our perfect moments, as well as the moments when we feel like an absolute mess. Extending grace to others as well as myself, helps me to get through tough days and be so much more grateful for near-perfect days. It helps me to see myself and others in a way God sees us – perfect and lovable.

From that comes the name of my blog – Oatmeal & Grace – the two things that highlight my every day. And even though my son’s passion for oatmeal may pass, the memory of these days will stay with me forever. And God’s grace will forever and always be extended to me, reminding me to extend grace to others.
So there it is. I hope that as you come upon my blog you will take the time to say hello and give me a chance to get to know you a little.
